All of 13

Happy Monday everyone! It's time for the last sketch reveal of the month at Let's Get Sketchy, and we have another fabulous sketch designed by Ashley Horton to get your mojo going.
Here's the page that I created based off the sketch
For this page I used  "This & That" papers and journal cards by Echo Park, with misc. embellies mixed in. Originally, my page started off looking a lot different than it ended up. That's just the way it works sometimes, right? I had fewer layers and they were more spread out. The sketch shows the possibility for 3 photos, which I never seem to have, so I was planning on using 2 of the journal cards in place of the photos I didn't have. Well even after fiddling with it for almost an hour it still felt too boxy to me. So I moved all the layers closer, adding some doilies and paper tearing to soften the edges a bit. And this is what I ended up with, which I'm pretty happy with.
All in all I had a lot of fun working with the sketch and I hope you do too. Just be sure to link your project back here so we can come admire your work, as well as get a chance to win a gift card from Creative Embellishments

Thanks so much for spending some of your time with me and your lovely comments! I truly appreciate it. Have an awesome day!

Enjoy the journey

Good morning, scrappy friends! Today the revealing of sketch #25 at 2 Broke Girls Scraps has gone live. So today I'm sharing my design team layout that I created for inspiration.
To start, I toned down the background with a sponge and some gesso, going back with a sponge and some inks to bring in some of the peach, orange, and rust tones from the photo. Then in place of the circle element from the sketch I did a bit of light stenciling. Once that was dry I really started to pile on the layers, finishing it off with a few splatters of Heidi Swapp color shine in peach. For the title chippie I used the same inks that I used in the background to give it a bit of an ombre effect similiar to the photo.
And here is this week's fantastic sketch that I flipped
Thanks so much for taking a peek! I hope that I've inspired you even just a bit to join us. I can't wait to see your creations based off the sketch. Hope you have a wonderful week!

For this page I used Basic Grey's "Serenade" range layering with misc. tags, washi tape, twine, flowers, and leaves.  Adding a bit of stitching, gesso, stamping, and acrylic paint.
And this is the fabulous new sketch to inspire you

I hope you get the chance to play along with us. Thanks so much for coming by! Hope you have an awesome day!

Darling

Good morning all! It's the 15th so it's time for the mid month challenge reveal at Boy Meets Girl. We are challenging you to use any type of texture on your page/project. And remember that the mid month challenge is for the girls, so the subject of your page must be a girl/girls.
I found this adorable little girl on Pinterest and knew I had to use her. On this page I used Prima "Tea Thyme" papers and a couple of scraps from my scrap basket. With modeling paste and a Prima stencil I created a bit of texture to the background, lightly inking it with Vintage pink chalk edger by Prima. Then I went around the background with a bit of gesso. The frames I made using a Martha Stewart punch set, adding pearls to the corners.
Adding a bit of cheescloth, moss, and lace to my flower cluster for softness and additional texture.
Thanks so much for coming by! Hope you have a wonderful day!

a Mother's love

Good afternoon everyone! It's time for the final word reveal at Use Your Words. Your last challenge word is "love" to use in your title or journaling. This is what I created
Is there a stronger love than that of a Mother for her children? I found this wonderful vintage photo on Pinterest. For this I used Prima Fairy Rhymes papers mixed with a couple of scraps I had on hand. I started by toning down the background with gesso, then went back and did some random masking with gesso and a stencil. Once that dried I used a ledger mask and "Patina" texturz by Shimmerz. For my flower cluster I started with a piece of cheescloth as my base, then addeed a Prima vine that I had cut up, stringing a strand of pearls through. Then I just start building my flower cluster with various flowers and floral wires, finishing it by tucking in a small spool with thread for a cute little added touch.

I hope that I've inspired you in some small way to join us. I would "love" to see your creations. Thanks for dropping by for a peek!

Every flower

Happy Monday morning all! Are you ready for a new sketch reveal? Today I'm sharing the latest from Let's Get Sketchy, and my inspiration page.
For this page I used papers from the "Flea Market" collection by Crate Paper, a journal card from the MME "Flair" papers, and bits from the Maggie Holmes Ephemera pack by Crate Paper. Add some washi tape, doily, and a few misc. embellies and let the layering begin... finishing it off with just a few splatters of black acrylic paint. The photo is a little gem I found on Pinterest. It reminds me of my Grandma's table, and I love the colors in it.
And here's the fabulous sketch designed by Brenshevia to inspire you
So go grab your scrappy supplies, I can't wait to see what you come up with! Thanks for coming by! Have a wonderful day!

Good mornin'

Good morning all! It's reveal time for sketch #70 at Keeping the Best. Here's the new sketch to inspire you
For my page I mirrored the sketch
I hand stiched my sunburst on the background then played with a little gesso, random masking, and stamping. I used scraps from the "Origins" collection from Basic Grey, along with doilies, washi tape, and misc. tags for my layers. I crumpled them up a bit for more dimension, inking the edges in black for definition. Finishing it off with a few splatters of Tattered Angels in Sun Sisters and Black Magic.
Now it's your turn, what will you create from the sketch? Remember to link back to us here. I can't wait to see your creations. Thanks for stopping by for a peek!

Belle

Hello all! It's time for a new sketch reveal at 2 Broke Girls. So today I'm sharing my inspiration page that I did based off this week's sketch
And here's what I created
For this page I dug back into my stash of older collections, hoping to find papers that would compliment the pretty photo and maybe make a small dent in my hoarded stash. And this is what I found. I used lots of distressed layers and chipboard pieces from BoBunny's "Little Miss" collection. The script paper is one that I've had for awhile as well, unfortunately I can't remember where the heck I got it or who makes it. I inked the edges in "vintage photo" distress ink. And I used distress paint in "vintage photo" for the rings. The flowers, pearls, lace, and ribbon are all from my stash. Do you think the girl is taking a flower or putting it in the arrangement?

Family

Good morning! Can you believe that it's already October 1st? Fall has finally started to arrive where I live with cooler nights and the leaves beginning to change. I just love Fall in the Smokies. With the changing season I decided to create a page with a photo of us during a family cookout/bonfire and more Fall like colors for the Use Your Words reveal. Here is my "Family" page
I chose to use some Authentique "Blissful" range that I've been hoarding for awhile. I love this color combo. I distressed and lightly inked the layers in black. For a little more texture and interest I tucked in a zipper that came in an older Scraps of Darkness kit. The cute little light bulbs are by Prima. And the flowers are a mix of Prima, Recollections, and my stash. The ribbon and pearls are from my stash as well. And lastly, to tie it all together I used some Inka Gold in "Lava red" randomly throughout the layers.
And now it's your turn to share your "family" with us. I can't wait to see your creations. Thanks for dropping in for a peek. Have a great day!
